Book months ahead, not weeks
For events that fill a city (F1 Silverstone, Glastonbury, Edinburgh Fringe, Wimbledon weeks), accommodation is sold out 3-6 months ahead. The 'oh I'll book next month' approach fails.
Premium pricing is real
Expect 50-100% premium pricing for event-week bookings in the impacted areas. Sometimes the maths works to book 30 miles away and commute in — quieter, half the price, no event crowds.
Mid-week stays sometimes available
For weekend events (festivals), mid-week stays in the run-up can still be available at standard rates. Crews doing build/break work get this benefit.
