What 'fast WiFi' actually means
Marketing copy that says 'high-speed WiFi' tells you nothing. Ask for the actual download/upload Mbps. For solo work-from-home you want ≥50 Mbps down, 10+ up. For Zoom calls and Teams meetings the upload speed matters most — anything below 5 Mbps and your colleagues will be staring at a frozen profile picture half the time.
Trade Nest Stays partners report measured speeds, not theoretical line speeds. Look for the 'WiFi speed' tag on property listings.
Mobile signal — the often-forgotten backup
A property with patchy WiFi but strong 4G/5G is usable; the reverse isn't. Check the postcode on the EE/Vodafone/O2 coverage maps before booking. If you're on a 'work mobile' tariff that's data-uncapped, tethering can save a whole stay when home broadband goes down.
Office-grade WiFi is a partner ask
If you're staying 4+ weeks and the property's standard router won't cut it, ask. Many partner hosts will upgrade their router or run a CAT6 cable to the workspace for a small additional fee — easier than you'd think.
If you're booking for a team, mention it in the quote request. We'll route you to partner properties whose hosts have made connectivity upgrades.
